Air Executive

The European Union has decided to include aviation in the European Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS) or cap-and-trade. The aim of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) is to help EU Member States achieve their commitments to limit or reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a cost-effective way.

Therefore all aircraft owners/operators of aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of more than 5700 kg who operate flights that depart and arrive in EU airports (regardless of where the aircraft is base) are required to comply with the EU ETS. The procedure includes the opening an Account with Union Registry with your appointed Member State and the submission of your emissions allowances.

Air Executive offers an emissions management service to aircraft owners/operators for the EU ETS which includes the following:

  • Preparation of all relevant supporting documents and verification with the appointed member state's national administrator
  • Opening of account with the Union Registry
  • Measurement and collection of CO2 data
  • Preparation of a CO2 emissions annual report
  • Report verification by an independent approved auditor
  • Submission of the audited report to the appointed authority
  • Emission allowances brokerage in the European Energy Exchange (EEX)
